Sending children to study abroad has always been a topic of discussion for parents. Myself being a parent of an 18 year old have a lot of inputs to give on this. The most important reason that I am in full support of sending children abroad for studies is that they learn a lot of things in the new environment. Moreover, it is always a good way to meet different people, learn new things experience varied culture. Another very evident advantage is the level of exposure and international mindset which is developed if someone studies abroad. There is development of language skills and exposure to international work culture which is turn prepares oneself for adapting in an international working organization. We as parents give a protected and secure environment to our children throughout their lives. As a consequence there is a lack of independence and exposure. Sending them abroad for studies makes them aware of the world and the challenges to survive on their own.    

Another reason to study abroad is the chance to experience the different styles of education which would not be possible if we are at home. When you finish study abroad and return home, there will be a new perspective on culture, language skills and willingness to learn which are very attractive to future employers.

While studying abroad you may discover new attributes to your personality like developing new interests which you may not have acquired being at home. There may be a lot of new things in the entertainment area too like new plays, clubs etc

One of the biggest advantage of studying abroad is the opportunity to meet new lifelong friends from different backgrounds.

For many students this might be the only opportunity they ever get to travel abroad for a long period of time and so it can be utilized for future opportunities in career.
